Drumheller - Home of The Dinosaur

The area around Drumheller is known as Dinosaur Valley due to the number of fossilised dinosaurs dug from the surrounding hills.

It is also home to the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology and we spent a great day looking around the world class exhibits.

Drumheller is also home to the world's largest dinosaur (a 'small' Susan is in the foreground). The dinosaur is so impressively big it actually doesn't appear as tacky as it might otherwise have been. Size obviously matters!

  1. Hi Cliff and Susan, glad you are making such good progress and seemingly still on such good terms, I would endorse the good advice about photographing (or not) very large animals you encounter at the side of the road, certainly when on a tandem - a bit short on protection and not the fastest get away transport! Some great pictures from the Rockies, I think we probably have a good few duplicates. The Icefields Parkway is fantastic and it was surprising to see how much snow is still at the side of the road. I would echo your comments about the RVs, we were glad of having a lot of metal around us when they were manoeuvering about - I gather they have similar problems with RV types in the Falkirk area, just the woman passenger looks a lot younger! We are off to Canada shortly and will check on your progress in case there is any chance of us being nearby, although I think your progress, great though it is, probably makes that unlikely. Keep up the great posts and take care out there.
    Regards
    Willie and Margaret

  2. Yes keep in touch when you are in Canada and keep an eye on the hard shoulder when you are driving. You never know where we will be. Oh and any recommendations for reasonable places to eat along our route are most welcome. Thx.
